Abstract
287,542. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. March 25, 1927, [Convention date]. Developing, reversing, and reducing.-A process of developing photographic silver-sensitized films in order to produce thereon by reversal positives exhibiting the correct gradation consists (1) in subjecting the film after exposure to an abbreviated development not exceeding a duration fixed for the particular film-material, (2) reversing the image in known manner by dissolving out the silver image, treating the film in a clearing bath, exposing to light and re-developing, and (3) reducing the density of the resulting positive image by means of a reducing bath having a uniform action, prepared for example by mixing in stated proportions a solution of iodine in aqueous potassium iodide and an aqueous solution of thiocarbamide. This reducing bath may also be used for dissolving out the silver image produced by the first development.
