Abstract
286,908. Macintosh, C. A. G. April 14, 1927. Balances and balance regulators; escapements. - In escapement mechanism, particularly of the lever type, the banking pins f<12>, f<13> are not fixed, but are mounted on levers f, f<4>, and f<1>, f<5>, pivoted at f<2> and f<3> respectively, so that when either banking pin is moved by an excessive oscillation of the lever d, a. pin f<8> or f<9> on the arm f<4> or f<5> is lowered and damps the oscillation of the balance b. The pin f<8> or f<9> is retained in its damping position by ratchet f<6>, or f<7>, and spring pawl f<10>, or f<11>, until a cam g on the balance wheel strikes the lowered pin f<8>, or f<9>, and raises the pin out of engagement. In a modification the two banking pins and the two damping pins are arranged on a single T-shaped lever.
