Abstract

536,600. Escapements. AEBERHARDT. H. March 10, 1939, No. 7830. Convention date, March 14, 1938. [Class 139] In a lever escapement for timepieces having the axes of the balance and the lever at right angles to one another, the movement being adapted to be used in a vertical position, the balance wheel is horizontal at right angles to the main frame plate behind which the lever escapement is mounted. The axis of the lever 3 is carried between the plate 1 and a bridge 2. The integral fork 4 is bent at right angles to the lever and coacts with the impulse pin 5 on a plate 6 rigid with the balance 8. The safety pin 7 on the lever coacts with a notch 7a in the rim of plate 6. The balance staff 9 is mounted between an offset part 10 of bridge 2 and a bridge 11 which is fastened to plate 1. The rim of the balance oscillates in a slot 12 formed in the plate 1 and the dial. 13 are banking pins for the lever. In a modification, Fig. 5, the safety pin 7b is at right angles to the lever and coacts with a notch 7a in a second plate 6b rigid with the balance staff 9. In another construction, Fig. 6, the fork 4a is parallel to the lever and coacts with an impulse pin 5a set radially in plate 6c on staff 9. The safety pin 7c is substantially parallel to the lever 3 and co-operates with notch 7a in plate 6d on staff 9. In detail modifications (1) a separate steel fork is attached to the lever, Fig. 8 (not shown), (2) the impulse pin is integral with a plate rigid with the balance staff, Fig. 9 (not shown).
