Mechanical constructions, details for building up. - A toy building-element comprises a sheet-metal strip 10 having straight parallel edges and a flange 11 extending at rightangles thereto along one edge, the strip being provided with a series of holes 14 adjacent each edge and elongated holes 15 at each end in alignment with the said series. The flange 11 is provided with a series of laterally elongated holes in alignment with the holes 14, 15. The central section 16 of the strip is laterally offset and cut away to form cross-bars 20 at the intersection of which another series of holes 21 is provided. Two elements may be bolted together in the same longitudinal direction or at right-angles to each other, or a number of elements may be assembled to form hollow girders or columns such as that shown in Fig. 10.
