Abstract

Mechanical constructions, details for building up.-A toy building-element comprises a flat, substantially quadrant-shaped member of thin metal having perforations spaced at intervals adjacent its peripheral edge, and a series of perforations disposed in radial alignment at an intermediate portion thereof. The element has six sides 25 - - 30, Fig. 4, of which two sides 25, 26 are parallel, two sides 27, 28 are mutually at right angles, and the remaining sides 29, 30 make obtuse angles with side 26 and acute angles with sides 27, 28. Circular holes 36, 38 are provided adjacent each edge and in addition an elongated hole 32 is provided adjacent edges 26, 29, 30. Two series of elongated holes 41, 42 are arranged in the body of the element in directions respectively perpendicular and parallel to the sides 25, 26. A circular hole 17 is provided at the intersection of the series 41, 42 to form a bearing for a shaft 16 with or without the interposition of a bush. Four elements may be joined together, Fig. 5, either by lap or butt joints to form a hub plate for a " Ferris " wheel &c., a bush 15 being attached centrally to receive a supporting shaft. The element may be used for other purposes, such as the connection of offset girders.
