Speed-indicator transmission mechanism.- Means are provided to ensure that the flexible shaft 20 is in driving engagement with the shaft 14 of the speed-determining parts before the support 28 of the shaft can be secured in place. A bolt 32 secured to the speedometer casing 10 passes through an aperture in the support 28, but its nut 30 is counterbored at 44 to prevent its engagement with the bolt until the support is allowed to move to its uppermost position by the correct engagement of the socket 18 with the squared end 16 of the shaft 14. A curved support 38 secured to the casing 22, of the shaft 20 by clamps 40, 42 prevents the shaft from kinking adjacent to the instrument.
