Speed-indicator transmission mechanism.-A locking device is provided which automatically comes into play when the speedometer drive is disconnected. The shaft 9, which can be connected to a driving device, is provided with a groove 65 in which slides a bolt 64 pressed by a spring 67. The bolt normally protrudes through the fixed casing 69 and thus locks the shaft 9, but in coupling up the drive the bolt is moved back so that the part engaging the groove is clear of the latter allowing the shaft 9 to rotate. The part 69 of the casing is formed as a spigot which may be passed through a hole in a supporting bracket 68 and the instrument rotated and clamped to the bracket in any position by a nut 70.
