Abstract

Vacuum tubes.-A screening arrangement for preventing accidental couplings in thermionic valve amplifiers &c., comprises a casing divided into compartments by one or more screening partitions, which are provided with gaps or openings, adapted to be closed by placing screening covers over the valves. Fig. 2 is a plan view of a set, and Fig. 3 a vertical cross-section. The partitions 6, 7 in the casing 3 are provided with rectangular gaps, the edges 31 of which are turned back to provide vertical slideways for the covers 27 when these are slid into position over the valves 4, 5. The valves are of the screen-grid type having an additional terminal 29 at the opposite end of the valve to the usual four terminals. The input connections for the control grid 24 comprise the pin 29, a spring contact 25 carried by the cover 27 and a contact 30 fixed to the casing 3. The input connections are thus entirely in the compartment 8, and are completed by the act of placing the cover over the valve. The battery and output connections pass through the opening into the next compartment 9.
