Abstract
283,532. Rohrbach Metall-Flugzeugbau Ges. Jan. 12, 1927, [Convention date]. Propelling. - A device for regulating the fuel supply to the internal-combustion engines of aircraft comprises two levers 7 connected by bevel gear 6 to a hand-lever 1<1> which can swing about the axis of the two levers 7 and can also be turned about its own axis and two other levers 11' mounted coaxially with the first two and provided with separate hand-levers 10' projecting through slots in a common housing. When used with two engines the levers 7 are connected to the two throttles which can be moved together or differentially and the two outer levers control the mixture at high altitudes. Plates 16, which may have interposed friction material, are placed between the levers 7, 11' and anchored to bolts 14 which secure the two halves of the casing together. Springs 17 press the levers and plates 16 into contact. When used with three or four engines, the levers 10' are provided with toothed quadrants 20 adapted to be engaged by noses 19 when depressed against a spring 21 by a rod 18 provided with a push button so that all four levers can be moved together to control the throttles. This clutching device is omitted in the twin engine control. For use with three engines, the two outer levers are connected to the throttle of the central engine which can therefore be controlled by either of the levers 10'. In this case the mixture is controlled by a separate similar device but without the bevel gear 6. The mixture for four engines is controlled by a separate device in a similar casing but comprising four coaxial levers separated bv anchoring plates and provided with control handles.
