Abstract

282,620. Moes, C. Dec. 24, 1926, [Convention date]. Paper machines; moulds.-In the manufacture of machine made paper having the characteristics of hand made paper, pulp from a channel 1 is fed by a chest 2 to an uninterrupted surface formed by a number of separate suction boxes 3, the tops of which are covered with wire cloth or laid wire. The boxes are carried forward by a conveyor 4 over a vacuum chamber 10 to a couch roll 12 carrying a felt 13 which conveys the web to the presses of an ordinary paper machine. Deckles 9 are provided and the forming apparatus including the roll 12 is mounted on a frame 6 which is shaken laterally about a vertical shaft 7. Watermarks may be sewn or embossed on the wire cloth surface of the boxes 3.
