Abstract
221,311. Huebner, J., and Ardern, E. July 6, 1923. Moulding pulp.-An endless travelling band of impervious material is arranged to form a substantially air-tight cover for paper pulp or like material as it travels over a suction or vacuum box or drum. The arrangement is shown as applied to a Fourdrinier machine with wire 3 and suction boxes 4, 5, 6. A band 7 of waterproof fabric passes round rollers 8, one or more of which may be driven. The band is of greater width than the layer of pulp and the openings of the boxes. The boxes may be fitted with adjustable false ends so that their width may be adjusted. The arrangement is applicable to cylinder and board machines and to revolving suction filters. The surface of the band which makes contact with the material may be formed so as to mould patterns or designs thereon, or it may be covered with rubber or aluminium, with woollen, cotton, asbestos or other fabric, or with wire gauze.
