Stockings and socks. - To strengthen splitwork hosiery in the region of the points 7 of the heel, the suture seams 6 are spaced therefrom by one or more wales of loops. To this end, the sole fabric bounded by the suture seams may be made on rather more than half the needles, while the instep fabric is made on rather less than half. Fig. 2 shows the structure of the preferred seams 6.
