Abstract
282,180. Timson, E. A. Sept. 29, 1926. Number-printing apparatus.-In number-printing apparatus for ticket-printing and other machines in which the numbering head is carried by a rotatable drum and the numbering wheels are advanced by the engagement of the ratchet arm or other operating member of the head with a cam, which is normally stationary but can be moved into an operative position, the cam is in the form of a circular groove in a member which is adjustable so that the groove is eccentric to or concentric with the axis of rotation of the drum. The member-1, provided with a circular groove 3, is secured to a rock-shaft 4 pivoted in the side frames c and operable by a ha.nd-lever at one end to place the groove 3 in the operative position, in which it is eccentric to the drum a carrying the numbering head, or in an inoperative position in which it is concentric with the drum. The entrance to the groove 3 is flared to allow free entry of the roller d on the ratchet arm e of the numbering head. Spring plungers 9, 12, mounted on the frame, are adapted to engage notched discs on the shaft 4 to hold the member 1 in its adjusted positions, pivoted levers 15. 16 engaging pins 19, 20 on the plungers being provided to withdraw the plungers from the discs. The movement of the number 1 into the inoperative position may be effected by gravity or by a spring.
