Inking-apparatus; tripping-arrangements. - In a rotary offset printing-machine in which tripping-mechanisms for the offset cylinder and for the forme-inking rollers are operated in succession by a pair of cams on a constantly rotating shaft, these mechanisms are actuated by a pair of hooked rods normally held in an inoperative position but adapted to be lowered by the operator into position to be engaged and operated by pins carried by arms constantly oscillated by the cams. The offset cylinder C is mounted in eccentric bearings 3 connected by rods 4 to levers - 5 fixed to a cross-shaft 6, and to one of the levers 5 is pivoted a rod 7 provided with a hook d adapted to co-operate with a pin e on a lever 8 which is constantly oscillated by a cam 14 on a shaft 11, and by a spring 8<a>. The rod 7 is normally held raised out of the path of the pin by a lever 9<b> pressed upwardly by a spring 15 but adapted to be lowered by the depression of a pedal 10. The inking-rollers 16 are tripped by means of vertically slidable frames 19 operated by a cam on a shaft 22 provided with an arm 23 to which is pivoted a rod 24 formed with a hook p for co-operation with a pin n on an arm 13 which is constantly oscillated by a second cam 12 on the shaft 11 and by a spring 13a. This rod 24 is normally held in an inoperative position by a roller 29 carried by a spring-pressed lever 27<a> mounted on the rod 7 but when the rod 7 is located the rod 24 is also lowered into position to be engaged by the pin n. The cylinder C may be manually tripped by means of a lever 33 connected by a link 32 to a lever 31 loosely mounted on the shaft 6 and provided with an adjustable screw 34 engaging the end of the rod 7. A hand-lever 26 connected by a slotted link 25 to an arm on the shaft 22 is also provided for manually tripping the inking-rollers, and when the rollers are thus tripped a hook 27 is moved by a spring 28 into a position such that a pin u<1> on the rod 24 may be engaged thereby to hold the rod in an inoperative position.
