Tripping-arrangemmts.- In tripping-mechanism for cylinder printing-machines, of the kind in which the impression cylinder is mounted in sliding journals operated by eccentrics or the like to lower the cylinder into printing position against the action of returning-springs, the eccentrics or the like are located above the journals and are operated by means of a pedal or its equivalent, having a separate returning spring or springs; also an automatic catch device is provided for holding the pedal or its equivalent in the depressed position, and another pedal or equivalent is provided for releasing the catch, the arrangement being such that the catch device in its release movement imparts a positive movement to the tripping-mechanism for facilitating the movement of the cylinder out of printing position. The cylinder a is mounted at each side of the machine in journals b supported on springs c and depressed by adjustable blocks f engaged by crank pins on spindles e<4> having arms e<2> connected by vertical rods g to levers h on a shaft h<1> across the base of the machine. One lever h is extended for connection to a pedal i<1>, and is provided with a projection h for engagement with a catch projection k<1> on a lever k connected at one end to a pedal l<1> and counterweighted at the other end k<2>. The lever k is also provided with a roller k<3> extending laterally to engage under a projection h<3> on the lever h adjacent to the pedal connection i to assist in raising the rod g, which is provided with a returning-spring g<2>.
