Abstract

281,805. Swain, J. A., and Shaw, A. W. Sept. 28, 1926. Limbs, artificial.-Relates to artificial legs of the kind having parts pivoted together on a transverse bolt mounted in ball bearings, the housings for the bearings being supported on the wall of a limb part, means being provided for preventing any change of distance between the housings. According to the invention the ball race housings are carried in castings 10 connected by a bridge-piece 19, an externally screw-threaded sleeve 16 being provided for adjusting the cooperative races at one end. The sleeve 16 is fastened in position by a slotted detent 17. A brake band 20 encircles the bearing bolt 3 and is tightened by a nut 24 engaging the screwthreaded extension 23 of the band which projects through the bridge-piece 19.
