Abstract
281,692. Siemens Schuckertwerke Akt.-Ges., (Assignees of Siemens-Schuckertwerke Ges.). Dec. 2, 1926, [Convention date]. Cores for cables.-Hollow high tension overhead cables are formed of alloyed aluminium of high conducting power and mechanical strength comprising 0.5 to 2 per cent silicon and 0.4 to 2 per cent magnesium the tensile strength of which is at least 30 kg/m.m<2>, and the conducting power at least 30 ohms m.m<2> at 20‹ C. Fig. 1 shows one construction in which round wires 2 are laid round a supporting member 1 and are surrounded by one or more layers of ribbon 3. In the modification shown in Fig. 2, an inner layer of ribbon 2 is provided between the round wires 3 and the supporting member 1.
