Burners, mounting and attaching.-The openings of a gas burner for lighting domestic fires are protected from dust and ashes, when not in use, either by rotating the burner or by providing it with a revoluble slide or cover. In the construction shown, a tubular burner a is mounted in brackets b beneath the front edge of a grate, so that when not in use it occupies the position shown in Fig. 4, in which the holes c are covered by the frame f, whilst when in use it is rotated to the position shown in Fig. 5. The burner may be rotated by the handle of the gas cock which is formed with an extension connected by a rod to a lug on the burner.
