Abstract

281,447. Wild, V. R. Oct. 25, 1926. Indicators directly operated by hand for displaying variable information.-Cards, plates, &c. for use in a stopping-place, departure, music-hall turn, &c. indicator are mounted in a carrier and are moved to bring a plate selected by a pointer to a position where it may be detached from the remainder of the plates and displayed. The plates 2 are supported by bars 3 engaging notches in their ends and their carrier 14 is moved along rails 15 by a projection 17 on the carrier engaging a helical groove 18<a> in a cylinder 18 rotated through gearing from a pointer 26. A scale 27 gives the position of the pointer to bring any desired plate above an opening 35. A horizontal bar 8 is raised by a rod 10 and cam slots b in bars 7 operate bell-crank levers 4, 6 to remove the bars 3 from the plates. The plate immediately above the opening 35 is seized by levers 33, so that when the bar 8 is lowered, the plate is carried with it, and is displayed through a glass k. The cylinder 18 is locked against movement except when the bar 8 is raised by a projection on one end of a bell crank 28 engaging notches in the cylinder, the bell crank being engaged by a pin 31 on the bar. The plates consist of a transparent plate behind an opaque plate having cutout letters, and they may be illuminated.
