402,797. Indicating-apparatus. FERRANTI, Ltd., and EDWARDS, A. W., Holinwood, Lancashire. May 4, 1932, No. 12900. [Class 106 (iv).] An indicating-device, particularly for wireless apparatus, is provided with a number of sets of sequential markings and means for illuminating a selected marking in any one set at a time, adjacent markings being visible and illuminated to a different degree. A translucent dial member a with markings corresponding to the long and medium wavelength stations co-operates with an aperture in the front panel d so that an area larger than that occupied by an individual mark is visible. Behind the dial are located a slotted screen f and shutter o, the shutter being provided with slots h, j which permit the illumination of a single marking on one of the scales at a time. The shutter is retained in its selected position by a boss p or pin r on a cam operated in conjunction with the wave-change switch. In a modification, the illumination is effected by one or other of two lamps mounted on a carriage which traverses longitudinally arranged fixed scales.
