Bodies.-In metal vehicle bodies the side sills are formed in two parts, the main sido sills and the tonneau sills, the main sills being of channel form and the tonneau sills being of angular section. The main sill channel sides 6, 7 are provided with flanges 8, 9 projecting horizontally, the flange 9 on the side 7 being elevated at the part adjoining the tonneau sill to form a flange 10. The tonneau sill 14 - - 17 is of the form shown in Fig. 4, aud is secured to the main sill 4, 6, 7 in the manner shown. The tonneau sill is upwardly upset at shown at 18, Fig. 3, and the flange or arm 14 is offset at the junction as shown at 10 in Fig. 2. A heel board 20 is provided with a projecting portion 21 secured to the top of the flange 10 and the underside of flanges 8, 9. A cross brace 30 of channel form connects the main sills at either side.
