Abstract

312,933. Budd Manufacturing Co., E. G., (Assignees of Ledwinka, J.). June 2, 1928, [Convention date]. Addition to 295,647. Bodies.-In a combined chassis and bodv construction for road vehicles the chassis members are contoured to the form of the body and the lower edges of the body are provided with longitudinally extending stampings particularly in their threshold portions which fit down over the chassis members and nest therewith. The body may be constructed of unit assemblies such as cowl, intermediate and tonneau sub-assemblies. The stamping 22 which is of channel form fits over the chassis member 10 as shown and secured thereto in appropriate manner. A flange 29 is provided to which the cowl panelling 27 is secured. A similar stamping 23 forms the threshold portion, the inner edge being straight and formed with a pressed portion 24, 32 to support the floor boards 33 while the outer portion is formed as shown and connected to the intermediate panelling or posts. At the wheel housing the panelling 28 may be inturned as at 36 and rest directly on the chassis 10.
