Abstract

280,886. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Nov. 18, 1926, [Convention date]. Samples furnished. Benzanthrone dyes. - Vat dyestuffs are produced by treating with alkaline agents Bz1- benzanthronyl-1- animoanthraquinones alkylated at the nitrogen atom. The reaction proceeds more readily and the products are generally purer than when the non-alkylated benzanthronyl.1- aminoanthraquinones are employed as described in Specification 24604/08. According to an example a product dyeing cotton in blue-green shades from the vat is obtained from N-methyl- Bz1-benzanthronyl 1 - aminoanthraquinone and alcoholic caustic potash at 98‹ C. N-Methyl-Bz1-benzanthronyl- 1 - aminoanthraquinones are obtainable by alkylating Bz1-benzanthronyl-1-aminoanthraquinones or by condensing Bz1-halogen benzanthrones with 1-alkylaminoanthraquinones. The N - methyl - Bz1 - benzanthranthronyl-2-aminoanthraquinone is mentioned.
