285.555. Carpmael, W., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). Nov. 16, 1926. Pyrazoleanthrone, dyes derived from.-Vat dyestuffs are produced by heating a 2-halogen-1 : 9- pyrazoleanthrone with an agent which combines with acid and a metal or a metal compound, particularly copper or a salt thereof, in presence of a diluent. According to an example 2-brom-1 : 9- pyrazoleanthrone is boiled with nitrobenzene, potassium acetate, and copper acetate; the product, after freeing from unaltered parent material by extraction with. dilute caustic soda solution, dyes cotton in fast red shades from a blue hydrosulphite vat. 2-Brom-1 : 9-pyrazoleanthrone is obtained by internal condensation of 2-brom-1-hydrazinoanthraquinone; the latter is obtained from 2- brom-1-aminoanthraquinone by way of the diazo compound.
