Abstract

325,267. Carpmael, A., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). Nov. 15, 1028. Carbazole derivatives of 1 : 1-dianthraquinonylaminoacridones containing no acylamino groups but containing two acridone rings in the 3 : 4(N) : 3<1> : 4<1>(N) positions, or derivatives or substitution products thereof, are prepared by treating such dianthraquinonylamines with sulphuric acid at a low temperature, followed, when necessary, by oxidation of the resulting product. In examples a product is prepared by condensing 1 : Bz2 : Bz4- trichlor-3 : 4(N)-anthraquinoneacridone (obtained by chlorinating the anthraquinoneacridone in nitrobenzene) with 1-amino-Bz-2 : Bz4-dichlor- 3 : 4(N)-anthraquinoneacridone (obtained by condensing 4 : 6-dichloraiithranilic acid with 1-amino- 4-bromanthraquinone-2-sulphonic acid, effecting ring closure with sulphuric acid and splitting off the sulpho group by means of reducing agents or by simple heating), and treated with concentrated sulphuric acid and sodium nitrite or chromic acid. The carbazolized product dyes cotton in fast green shades. The product obtained by the same treatment of the condensation product of the trichloranthraquinoneacridone. of the preceding example with 1-amino-3 : 4(N)-anthraquinoneacridone dyes cotton a more yellowish-green shade. Specifications 29352/10 and 305,082 are referred to. The Provisional Specification also refers to the treatment of dianthraquinonylamines containing no acylamino groups but containing at least two acridone rings in general.
