Abstract
280,525. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Nov. 13, 1926, [Convention date]. Developing.-A cyanide of a heavy metal such as mercury, cobalt,. or cadmium is added to a photographic developer in order to desensitize the sensitive silver halide layer' in the initial stage of development and permit the completion of the operation in bright yellow light. The presence of such a cyanide also diminishes the tendency of the layer to fog, and its addition is therefore advantageous in tank development. Examples are given of metol-hydroquinone developers containing 0.3 gram of mercuriccyanide to 1 litre of developer.
