Abstract

279,026. Soc. Anon. la Trinidad. Oct. 15, 1926, [Convention date], Emulsions, making.-To natural or artificial bitumen or asphalt pulverulent or colloidal mineral matter is added and the pasty product is mixed with an anhydrous emulsifying agent, comprising a soda or potash soap containing 1-8 per cent of added commercial olein. The mixture may be converted into an emulsion by stirring with hot or cold water. The bituminous paste is brought to a fluid condition before mixing by heating to from 100-150‹ C. and by the addition of residual oil of petroleum, or the like. The emulsifying agent may be added in a cold condition. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the pasty product used may be bituminous or asphaltic material naturally containing pulverulent or colloidal mineral matter and refers to schist oil or tars as suitable fluxes. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
