Joint-making packing.-The casing 4 of a heat exchanger comprises a tube without flanges, the tight jointing for the tube plate 2 and the end covers 6 being effected when tightening the fixing screws 7 by a suitable packing 8 being pressed against the inside wall of the casing. In Fig. 4 a second packing ring 9 is shown, leakage past the ring 8 escaping to the atmosphere from the space between the packings.
