Abstract

277,468. Gordon, D. July 27, 1926. Dipping-rods.-The dip pipe a is closed by a cap b provided with an aperture for the dipping rod c the cap being locked to the dip pipe by a split ring j located on the cap and connected to a lug q on the dip pipe by at least two links k, m connected to each other. In one form the cap is screwed on to the dip pipe and the lower link m connected to the lug q by a padlock or sealed pin &c. A striking pin r is provided on the cap and prevents the cap being lifted or loosened more than the width of one thread when the links are in locked position. A second cap d is provided which screws over the first cap and which is connected to the T-shaped dipping rod c by a ball screw e which permits of the cap d rotating freely relatively to the rod. A piece of fine gauze is kept in position between the cages d &c. by the ball screw, and a pin h on the rod prevents it being withdrawn bodily from the pipe.
