[Class 80 (iii).] In a wave-operated plant, ratchet gearing designed to prevent damage owing to violent motion consists of pins C<3> on a disc C<2>, rotatably carried by the driving-arm C<5>, which disc has peripheral notches engaged by rollers C<8> on a detent C<7> carried by a yieldable arm C<6>, so that, at a limiting stress, the disc C<2> will rotate on its axis.
