Abstract
277,094. Mauss, W. June 8, 1926. Actuated by liquid pressure; lever-actuated pumps; stroke, varying. -In a two-stroke cycle Diesel engine with floating pipes, the pistons are kept working symmetrically by hydraulic apparatus connected to a third differential piston carrying a crosshead 29 provided with means which operate the valves and the piston of the fuel pump through a bell-crank 35. A block 39 on the crosshead 29 engages a lever 40 and depresses the arm 41 of the crank 35 to raise the piston. The crank is held by a pivoted catch 36 which is released by a spring-mounted tappet 37 which acts by momentum when the crosshead 29 comes to rest. The stroke is regulated by a wedge 42 moved by a piston 43 under the pressure of air in a. reservoir supplied by the engine.
