276,863. Haag, E. Nov. 5, 1926. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Mowing-machines.-In a motor-driven mowing- machine a frame 1, 1<1> provided with guiding handles 5, 5<1> supports in a raised position, by means of an arched stay 2 and a stay 3, an internal-combustion engine 8. The frame 1, 1<1> is oscillatable about the axles of travelling wheels 4, 4<1>. At the front of the frame is a knife beam 7 provided with dividers 17 and plates 18 to guide the cut grass between the wheels. The knives are reciprocated from the engine 8 by a shaft 9, crank rod 14 and bell-crank lever 15. The knife beam can be tilted by a rod 20 and hand-wheel 21. The lever 15 has a stud and cup connection with the knife beam to allow of ready disconnection. The wheels 4, 4' are driven from the shaft 9 through a chain 24 and shaft 22 on which are keyed spur wheels 28 engaging toothed crowns 29 on the wheels 4, 4'. The spur wheels can be engaged with, or disengaged from, the toothed crowns either singly or together by means of spring- pressed discs 27 and forks 32 and a control 30, 31. The knife-beam can be disconnected from the motor by removing the crank-rod 14 from its crank disc.
