Abstract

Bands, placing on pulleys.-A clip 4 is pressed upon the edge of the pulley rim 2, or in the case of a wooden pulley may be pointed and lightly driven onto the rim, and a strap 8, secured thereto at one end by a screw 7, is passed around the belt 3 and employed to pull the belt partly upon the pulley, the free end of the strap being provided with holes 9, one of which is passed over a pin 10 in the clip 4 to maintain the belt in position. When the pulley is started, the belt is drawn fully thereon, and after a part revolution the belt in passing away to the companion pulley lifts the loose strap end from the pin 10 and the whole shipper falls from the pulley. In place of the pin 10 and holes 9, any connection releasable by a pull acting substantially radially to the shaft axis may be employed.
