Vehicle windows; frames; rattling of windows, preventing. -The guides 1 of a sliding window for a vehicle door are pivoted to the door at 4 and are pressed by adjustable springs 5 to press the sash frame 2 against fixed guides in the body or against stops 8 on the door frame. The guides are retained in the vertical plane by flanged pieces 10 which engage fixed U-shaped members 11. The sash 2 houses in its hollow interior, Fig. 8, two slide-blocks 12 and rods 15 secured to liners 16 at the top of the sash slide in flanged guides 14 secured to the blocks, counterbalancing springs 15 for the sashes being mounted on the rods. A lining 18 on the slide-block frictionally engages the guide 1, or a spring clip held on a stud in the slide-block may have shoes frictionally engaged with the sides of the guide 1 to retain it in position. Stops 19, 20 secured to the guide limit the movement of the' slide-block by engagement with a U-shaped member 21 riveted to the block. To take up wear &c. in the guides 1, a portion 30 thereof, Fig. 10, is adapted to be strained by an adjustable screw 29 having a locknut in a bracket 27 secured to the guide; a sawcut 26 is provided in the guide to allow the necessary movement. A fibre or like lining 31 may be provided in the guide.
