Abstract

275,459. Rhenania-Kunheim Verein Chemischer Fabriken Akt.-Ges. Nov. 20,1926. Addition to 262,408. Ammonium carbonate.-In the process according to the parent Specification in which solid ammonium carbonate is produced from its components by the introduction of ammonia and carbon dioxide into a reaction chamber whose walls are irrigated with aqueous liquid, the temperature is maintained so that it does not substantially exceed 60‹ C. when atmospheric pressure is used. With pressure above normal a temperature between 60 and 90‹ C. may be employed. According to one example, the ammonia, carbondioxide and water are introduced at such a rate that the temperature does not exceed 40‹ C. In a second example, in which the components are introduced under pressure, the temperature of the reaction is reduced to 70-80‹ C. by external cooling.
