Abstract

275,205. Royal Typewriter Co., Inc., (Assignees of Utz, A.). Aug, 2, 1926, [Convention date]. Carriage-shift mechanism; paper-carriages. - The shift-carriage of a type-lever machine is supported entirely on devices arranged at the sides of the framework and adapted to be adjusted in two directions for the purpose of adjusting the platen with respect to the types. As applied to a machine in which the carriage, is supported at each side by parallel rocking-arms G ,H, Fig. 3, there is provided at each side A of the framework a plate 3, Figs. 2 and 3, carrying the pivot 1 of one of the arms G, and one of the bearing- screws 4 for the rock-shaft K of the arms H. The plate 3 has horizontal grooves engaging ribs 6 on a second plate 7 which is guided vertically by a rib 11 on the side A, the plates being secured to the side by means of a bolt 8, having clearance for permitting adjustment of the plates. The plate 3 is adjusted horizontally on the plate 7 by means of screws 12, 15 and both plates are adjusted vertically by means of screws 17, 19.
