Abstract

Bodies.-Closed bodies of vehicles comprise a skeleton frame composed of longitudinals, uprights and cross-members and the frame is engaged with the roof member by the upper crossmembers and longitudinals and with side panels by means of the uprights, the rear panel being secured to the side panels. The skeleton frame, as shown in Fig. 1, comprises uprights 6, 6<1>, 7, 7<1>, and 8, 8<1> with cross-members 2, 3, 4, 9, 11, 11<1> and longitudinals 1, 1<1>, 10, 10<1>. The roof member is engaged with the cross-members 9, 11, 11<1> by means of the roof cross-members 11<11>, 11<111>, the roof member being provided with sheet-metal margins adapted to be secured to the side and rear panels. The post 6 is of channel section, Fig. 3, reinforced with wooden battens 32 to support the windscreen 34 and to which post the front door is hinged by hinges 50 - - 52. The intermediate post 7 comprises a double channel 12, 13, Fig. 4, with offsets 14 and serves as the jamb post of the front door and as the hinge post of the rear door. The doors are of sheet metal so as to be slightly flexible. The rear side panels 29, Fig. 15, are welded to the posts 8, 8', Fig. 1, and at the rear turned over and formed with slots to take over bolts 30 by which they are secured to the rear panel 28.
