[Class 108 (i).] A vehicle which is convertible into a travelling shop, bus, caravan, livestock vehicle, &c. is provided with side and rear openings which are fitted with horizontally hinged closure panels which may be moved to various positions. The vehicle, shown in Fig. 1 as a tradesman's retailing vehicle, is provided at each side and at the rear with panels 2, 3, adapted to open on horizontal hinges and to be supported at any angle by stays 6 having frictional engagement with the uprights 7. The hinged panels and uprights may if desired be formed as a unit for attachment to a vehicle. An attachment comprising a glazed panel 34 with hinged wings 35 may be provided, as shown in Fig. 2, to form a bay window with the panels 2, 3. The vehicle may be adapted for various uses such as an omnibus, caravan, and animal carrying vehicle in which the glazed panels 2, 3 are replaced by panels with wire netting. Various forms of panels are described each having the horizontal flap panel attached thereto. The hinged stays 6 are adapted to engage with the posts 7 in various ways. Fig. 3 shows the ends of the stays 6 engaging in slots 9 in a channel member, frictional knobs 11 being provided or both slots may be provided in one flange only of the post 7. Fig. 6 shows the stays 6 hinged to slides 14a of angular section sliding between the posts 7 and aT-member 23 the latter being pressed towards the post by springs 25 and end members 26. A bolt 19 with knob 20 is provided to lock each slide in adjusted position. Fig. 5 shows a post 7 the flanges of which are hollow members within which slide the slides 14, springs 15 with plate 18 and screw 17 being employed to press the slides against the flanges of the posts for frictional purposes. Other methods of mounting the slides are described.
