Abstract

248,526. Lamplugh, H. A. Jan. 10, 1925. Weather screens.-The side window of a motor vehicle with a saloon or other closed body is provided with one panel 3 pivoted on vertical pivots near the forward edge so as to move outwardly at the rear edge and inwardly at the front and thus to provide ventilation without direct draught. The pivoted panel overlaps its adjacent panel 1 on the inside, the channel frames 2 and 5 being omitted at the meeting edges and the side members being cut away to allow the corners of the panels to contact. The bottom pivot is shouldered and mounted in a bracket attached to the frame and is engaged by a U-shaped locking or holding member 14, Fig. 5 adapted to be clamped on the pivot by the screw 17 to secure the panel in any position. The clamp is screwed to an L-shaped bracket 12 on the body. The panel may be fixed in any position by means of a spring-pressed stud engaging a quadrant. Suitable stops may be provided to limit the amount of opening and in omnibuses a spring- pressed stop may be provided for this purpose which is accessible only on the outside. Beading may be provided on the movable frame to exclude rain.
