Abstract
274,458. Dennis, W. C., Cash, C. E., and Toscano, P. M. July 19, 1926, [Convention date]. Pendulum governors.-A governor for preventing ships screw propellers from racing comprises a steam valve actuated by a pendulum arm having a rotating weight journaled in slots in the lower end the weight harving coaxial rollers adapted to run on fore and aft guide rails. An upright 11 secured to the steam pipe 12 supports the steam valve 14 and gear 13 thereof and also provides a pivoted support 18 for the pendulum arm 17 and its upper gear 16. At the lower end the arm 17 and a fork piece 19 attached thereto have slots 20 in which is guided the axle 21 of the heavy rotatable pendulum weight 22. On the axle 21 are rollers 23 which run on guide rails 24 on a base piece 10 a fixed spring buffer 26 and an adjustable spring buffer 28 being provided at the ends of the rails. The base is pivotally mounted at 33 and set horizontally by the jack screw 35.
