Abstract

273,598. Rogers, R. J. Jan. 18, 1927. Ventilators.-A ventilator adapted to be fitted in a flue comprises a hollow casing, as shown in Fig. 1, having a fixed back-plate a, sides c, bottom d, and a removable perforated front-plate b, the back-plate curving forwardly at its lower end and towards the front plate and being extended upwardly and backwardly into the flue. The backplate is caused to divide the flue passage and to promote the flow of air through the front-plate by the accelerated flow of gases in the restricted part of the flue. The front-plate b is hinged at its lower end to the bottom d, and lugs f at the upper ends of its side edges enable it to be secured in position. The ventilator is adapted to be fitted in a hollow block g, Fig. 2, of concrete &c. having a flue passage h, and arranged to be built into a flue. The lower unperforated part j of the frontplate forms with the casing a dust trap.
