Games of chance. - Game apparatus comprises a plurality of coaxial rotatable discs a, b, c and means for controlling their rotation, the discs bearing markings adapted to be displayed against a fixed index or at an aperture in the casing of the apparatus. If the controlling means, such as the toothed levers k, l, m, are not employed to stop the discs, the markings will not register with the index or opening, by reason of spring-pressed toothed levers 26, 27, 28 engaging the star-wheels h, i, j connected to each disc. The discs are mounted on eccentric hubs e, f, g and toothed wheels 1, 2, 3 on the end of each hub are engaged by a tooth 19 on a lever 4 pivotally connected to an arm 16 of a rocking frame 5. The frame 5 is rocked by the engagement of a pawl 8 of a lever 9 operated by a handle outside the casing with a lever 12 on the frame, and on the return of the frame under the action of a spring 6, the tooth 19 causes the wheels and discs to rotate. Before the frame 5 is free to return, however, the lever k must be operated, this lever engaging a lever 58 that carries a pawl 57 engaging a lever 56 secured to the frame. By this means, the control device has to be used before the discs can rotate. The levers 26, 27, 28 are provided with arms 39, 40, 41 engaged by an arm 44 of the frame 5 when it is raised to free the discs, and heels 42 on these levers are engaged by an arm 51 that moves with a delay action to allow the levers to re-engage the star-wheels only after a definite time. The arm 51 is pivoted at 52 to the base-plate of the apparatus, and at its other end it is connected by a link 50 to one arm 47 of a bell-crank lever having a one-way drive on its arbor 48. A depending arm 45 of the frame 5 drives the lever 47 in one direction, and a slow return motion is effected by the lever driving an air-brake 49. A detent 25 prevents retrograde movement of the discs while the tooth 19 is being raised, but movement of the frame 5 causes the lever 16 to engage a bell-crank lever 72 that moves the depending shank 70 of the detent. Return of the detent is prevented until the discs have stopped by a portion 76 of the delay arm 51 passing under a rod 74 depending from the lever 72. The controlling levers k, l, m are each provided with a spring 62 to keep them out of engagement with the starwheels, and spring-controlled plungers r, s, t operate the levers. Pairs of levers may be connected by levers 63 to prevent them being used simultaneously. The load on each disc may be varied bv an adjustable spring 38 engaging a grooved wheel on the disc.
