Abstract

272,639. Ferdinands, G. P. March 29,. 1926. Bulbs.-In a bulb having an envelope coloured with a red-ray absorbent substance, as described in Specification 226,259, the envelope is madesufficiently translucent to prevent the formation on the reflector of a real image of the filament. The whole of the envelope may be so treated or only that zone directly affected by the filament. The translucency may be obtained as by frosting, sand-blasting, coating with a matt varnish or an opalescent or milky fluid or by introducing a suitable chemical substance into the material from which the envelope is made.
