272,295. Shell-Mex, Ltd., and Arbuthnot, W. B. Carnegy-. March 12, 1926. Counting-apparatus; zeroizing- mechanism.-Indicating or counting mechanism for petrol-supply pumps comprises a setting-dial 23, a counting-dial 18 actuated by the change-over gear at each unit delivery, and means whereby when the setting-dial is next set the counting-dial is automatically zeroized. As shown applied to the apparatus described in Specification 272,296, [Class 69 (i), Hydraulic apparatus &c.], the actuating pawl 7 is reciprocated at each change-over by the rocking spindle 1 and cam 2, and engages two ratchet wheels 8, 11 of which wheel 8 is pinned to a spindle 9 rigid with the setting- dial 23. The loose ratchet-wheel 11 is slightly smaller than wheel 8, is controlled by a spiral spring 16, and is connected with dials 18, 19 disclosing through windows 20 the quantity delivered and the price thereof. A detent 12 engages wheel 11 and reverse rotation of the setting-dial is prevented by a pawl 24. When the setting-dial is turned for a new delivery the pawl 7 in riding over the teeth of wheel 8 bears against an extension 14 of the detent which is thus raised from the counting-wheel 11 so that this may return to zero under the action of the spring.
