Abstract
272,176. Steiner, L. June 5, 1926, [Convention date]. Stropping-apparatus.-In a machine for sharpening razor, knife &c. blades by means of two rollers acting simultaneously on the two faces of the edge, the blade 2 is mounted in a holder 1 movable to allow the blade to adjust itself to the rollers. The holder has thereon a spindle 4, the axis of which lies in the plane of symmetry of the blade, and the spindle is movable in slots 9 in the machine frame. A weight 5 is secured to the spindle, the centre of gravity of the holder lying on the axis of the spindle 4; the weight may be replaced by a spring. In a modification, Fig. 3, the blade also is mounted by the central hole only, on a pin 3<1>, so that it may move in its plane. The spindle 4 may be replaced by pins, or the arrangement may be reversed.
