NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP MAATSCHAPPIJ TOT VERVAARDIGING VAN SNIJMACHINES VOLGENS VAN BERKEL'S PATENT EN VAN ANDERE WERKTUIGEN, 33, Boezemsingel, Rotterdam, Holland. April 3, 1930, No. 10545. Convention date, April 3, 1929. [Class 60.] The rotary knife of a slicing or other machine is sharpened by means of a grinding-wheel 9 and a burr-removing grinding-wheel 28 mounted on spindles 10, 32 respectively and moved into operative position by means of a cam 17, the wheel 9 being positively held against movement in a direction away from the knife during operation. The cam is provided with a helical groove 15 engaged by a pin carried by a bush 11 in which the spindle 10 is mounted and is also formed with a face cam 34 which acts through a lever 30 on the spindle 32 and at the required time allows the wheel 28 to be moved against the knife by a spring 35. The cam 17 is rotated by means of a head 18 which acts through a slipping device comprising a spring-pressed ball 21 coacting with recesses in the cam 17 so as to ensure that the wheel 9 cannot be pressed too firmly against the knife.
