272,078. Midland Motor Cylinder Co., Ltd., and Pritchard, P. Sept. 27, 1926. Casting processes.-In casting a cylinder of an internal-combustion engine of aluminium or of an alloy thereof around a liner of steel or cast iron, molten metal of approximately the same melting point as that of the aluminium is first poured into the liner. The liner is also provided with external ribs or grooves either annular or longitudinal or both. The liner is preferably treated internally with plumbago or other material to facilitate removal of the core when cooled.
