Abstract

271,231. Beadle, J. C. April 29, 1926. Hoods.-Road vehicles, particularly charabancs, are provided with standing side or window frames along the top of which are arranged runways for the hood ribs, the latter being in permanent engagement with the runways. The runways 13 of slotted tube formation are secured to the top rail 12 of the pillars 11 and in one form are curved downwardly at the rear so that the hood ribs 15, to which the hood fabric 23 may be attached, may be housed in a compartment 24 at the rear of the vehicle when it is desired to use the vehicle as an open one. The ribs 15 are provided with clamping-means 18, 19, 20, and the front of the hood may be provided with stretcher bars 26, 27, Fig. 5, to tighten the hood in the closed position. Instead of the rear curved runways 13 they may terminate in a rigid rear upstanding portion of the body.
