Abstract

Resistance ovens.-The heating elements 4 are displaceably disposed in channel shaped members 2 protected by heat insulating material so that the heat is first reflected towards the floor or roof from which it is diffused and reflected to ensure uniform heating. The heating elements do not occupy the whole length of the chamber 1 and may be displaced to attain transverse heat regulation. The channels may be of iron lined with insulating enamel. The auxiliary chamber 1<1> is heated by elements 8 in channels 9. Similar heating may be employed in the space 6 under the chamber 1. Heat accumulators 11 may be fitted as shown. Steam formed in the chamber 1 is removed by a draught pipe 14 communicating with a furnace 13 adjacent to the charging door.
