Abstract

Mules and twiners.-The shaft 7, which actuates the backing-off, the drawing-in of the carriage, and the cam shaft is operated by a chain 16 passing over a sprocket 13 carried by the loose pulley 2 of the first or slow speed. The shaft 7 carries a gear 8 to drive the backing-off friction cone 9, a bevel gear 10 to drive the drawing-in shaft 12 and the cam shaft, and a sprocket 17 for the chain 16. When the slow speed is in operation during the outward run, the shaft 7 is - stationary.
